Lowering blood sugar.
Watching blood sugar.
Managing blood sugar.

Lower. Watch. Manage.

1.  All while grappling with incessant, over-powering cravings.
2.  All while fearing heart disease, cancer, dementia.
3.  All while navigating chronic pain and fatigue.
4.  All while reducing portion size.
5.  All while enduring judgment and criticism from the ‘food police’.
6.  All while counting calories.
7.  All while passing on dessert and favorite foods.
8.  All while avoiding fat and sugar and cholesterol.
9.  All while exercising more and eating less.
10.  All while beating ourselves up over our inability, our inadequacy, our repeated failure.

From spirit-sapping chronic, steady weight gain, to inflammation, pain, and accelerated aging to deadly diseases like Alzheimer’s, cancer and heart disease.

Diabetes is a life call-to-action.

Whether pre-diabetes or full-blown type 2 diabetes, lowering blood sugar is critical. If we don’t lower blood sugar we will pay. It’s a situation that cannot be denied. No blind eye. No look the other way. No justifying, downplaying, undervaluing or brushing aside.

Diabetes, unaddressed, places demands on the body and compromises basic functioning. Kidneys decline. Eyes fail. Limbs grow numb. And elevated blood sugar supports cancer, drives dementia, contributes to atherosclerosis, and exacerbates every chronic condition.

Survival truly does depend on lowering blood sugar.

Look no further than the list we just went through of widespread devastation elevated blood sugar brings to the body. Interestingly and troublingly, we are often advised even warned that we MUST consume a prescribed amount of carbohydrate daily.

The very food category that has put us into jeopardy we’re instructed to continue eating in relatively high amounts.

Don’t you find that perplexing?

It is this specific piece of conventional advice that keeps diabetics diabetic.

Lowering blood sugar with medication or insulin therapy is a slow descent into madness.

At first it appears to be working. However, hope, that tempting seductress, teases us into passive complacency. We hand our power over to the medical and pharmaceutical teams.

We choose reliance on medication over reliance on self.

Take note: no one will get you out of diabetes and the slippery death slope it creates. Like the passengers on the Titanic, the power-builders really don’t have your best interest at heart. Only you can devise a plan, take action, and actually do the ‘saving’ of your own life.

Lowering Blood Sugar | How To Lower Blood Sugar Without Medication – Episode #12

Yes. Diabetes and lowering blood sugar come hand in hand.

But like any complicated situation, Diabetes comes with far more tasks than simply lowering blood sugar.

Diabetes comes with its own set of mistruths.

You know, those food and health guidelines set out for us by the experts.

These mistruths have us second guessing, scratching our heads, waiting for the other shoe to drop, wondering and wandering. Wondering as we wander through information, pamphlets, grocery stores, food philosophies, friend’s and family’s two-cents, our own trial and error.

There is no shortage of opinion, belief, and man-made rules including…

  • Eat the rainbow.
  • Eat clean.
  • Dirty Dozen. (Not to be confused with Dirty Dancing. One is a lot of fun the other, not so much. Hey, Baby!)
  • Eat pretty. (Especially if you will be dirty dancing.)
  • Eat organic.
  • Eat plant-based.
  • Eat nutrient dense.
  • Eat low fat.
  • Eat healthy fat.
  • Eat whole grains, fruits and vegetables.
  • Eat real food. Mostly plants. Not too much.
  • Eat until just 2/3 full.
  • Eat only until the food doesn’t taste as good as the first bite.
  • Eat mindfully.
  • Eat gratefully.
  • Eat lovingly.
  • Eat consciously, sustainably, morally.

Not one of these addresses how to lower blood sugar.

Sure, they each have some merit.

But what merit, exactly?

These are all like a game of Pin-the-Tail on the Donkey. We may be headed in the right direction, but we are dizzy, disoriented, and decidedly doubtful any of them will actually work, you know, at actually lowering blood sugar.

Skepticism is crucial.

Rule-followers beware.

To even have a shot at lowering blood sugar, for the long haul, you’ve got to dig down to the bare principles.  Move beyond vague directives that include the words “watch”, “just”, and “not too much”. And if any directive implies eating 6 times a day or using ‘moderation’, run.

To lower blood sugar it’s imperative to understand blood sugar.

There’s no emotion about it. There is no philosophy about it. There is no vague about it.

Lowering blood sugar demands basic knowledge of fat, protein, carbohydrate, and insulin.

Protein and carbohydrate create blood sugar or raise blood sugar. And insulin lowers blood sugar or disperses blood sugar. It actually is quite elementary when we we rise above the hype. That’s where truth is uncovered. Beyond hoopla, beyond meds, beyond personal bias, agenda, newsreel, or product endorsement.

Truth.

First, it may tick you off.

But then it will indeed set you free.

Lowering blood sugar… eliminates cravings.

Lowering blood sugar… lowers risk of dementia, cancer, and heart disease.

Lowering blood sugar… means less insulin circulating overall.

Lowering blood sugar… is easy when we embrace dietary fat.

Lowering blood sugar… means one teaspoon at a time.

Lowering blood sugar… requires some protein smarts.

Lowering blood sugar… lessens waist weight.
